COLLEGE STUDENTS | INTERNSHIPS

SHADOWLAND STAGES offers internships for currently enrolled college students throughout the year. College credit can be arranged, if applicable.

Producing / Marketing Interns – The producing / marketing internship exposes students to the full range of arts administration and marketing responsibilities for a busy subscription based AEA theatre. Our interns are required to attend a weekly seminar with our Managing Director, and will enjoy featured guests from our production and administrative staff as well as our board of directors throughout the internship. Topics to be explored include CRM / Database management, social media content creation, board development, community relationships, marketing partnerships, business administration as well as an overview of current non-profit issues and advocacy organizations and resources.

Our internships are unpaid, and we are not able to provide housing. The dates of your internship will be built around your academic calendar as well as your current or anticipated coursework. Interns may request a focus area / concentration in Marketing, Development, Organizational Development, or other Producing / Marketing areas.

Because the internship is unpaid, we anticipate that the majority of our summer interns (in particular) may need to find paid work in addition to their internship. To help make this possible, we anticipate that each intern will be available for internship hours no more than three days per week.

Additionally, our interns are given first priority as we fill box office and house management assistant positions over the course of the production season. You may elect to interview for one of these paid positions and if hired, stay for two hours following the end of your internship day in order to assist in the box office or with house management. A sample of current internship schedules can be found here*. These positions are hourly minimum wage employment, and make a nice way to add paid employment and experience to your resume (in addition to the internship).

To apply, send your resume and inquiry to Info@ShadowlandStages.org with the subject line INTERNSHIP APPLICATION. Please indicate in the body of the email your preferred start date and approximate end date, as well as any requested area of focus within the Producing / Marketing internship.

*Currently enrolled SUNY ULSTER students – please note we can be flexible with your hours in order to more easily facilitate your utilizing the EU / UE route UCAT bus (which stops in front of our office). You will find the bus schedule here.
